Programme Managers
We employ over 100 part-time staff throughout the year to accompany our programmes as Programme Managers. This dynamic and exciting role is ideally suited to undergraduates, retired teachers and English-speaking students at international universities. Full training and all expenses are provided. Job Description
Primary Objective: To effectively co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the 10-19-day pre-booked programmes for groups of 35 - 45 schoolchildren aged 10 to 18 years. Up to 4 Leaders (usually qualified teachers) will accompany you as you travel around the United Kingdom, Ireland and northern Europe.
Main Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Liaising professionally and courteously at all times with the Leaders, students, coach drivers, hotel reception staff, professional guides, home stay co-ordinators, event co-ordinators and any groups of people involved in the organisation of the programmes.
- Using initiative and paying attention to detail throughout the duration of the programmes. Programme Managers are expected to solve minor difficulties themselves but know when to refer a query or incident to the head office in London.
- Maintaining high standards of personal appearance, punctuality and leading the delegates by example.
- Generating a positive, ‘can-do’ atmosphere for the students and leaders when difficulties or schedule changes arise and encouraging good morale within the group.
- Where possible providing delegations with interesting and informative comments on historical sites, landmarks and cities during coach journeys (training and resource material is provided).
- Generating anticipation and interest in professional guided tours, pre-arranged briefings (e.g. MP lectures at the Houses of Parliament) and all elements of the programmes.
- Fostering awareness of the different cultures and lifestyles of the people whose countries the delegations will visit.
- Completing general paperwork and evaluations relating to the running of the programmes.
Training
Candidates must be available to attend a training programme. This usually takes place around Easter during the university holiday period and comprises 4 - 6 days residential course work and workshops including travel to UK and / or European locations for familiarisation. All expenses are met by the company.
Remuneration
Programme Managers are paid a competitive weekly salary plus all travel and incidental expenses are covered.
