ECE proudly organises The London International Youth Science Forum.  Founded in 1959 and celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year; LIYSF aims to give a deeper insight into science and its applications for the benefit of all mankind and to develop a greater understanding between young people of all nations.  The forum continues to represent a platform for the inspirational exchange of ideas and an experience proven to change the lives of young scientists.  This year, the forum boasts leading Physicist, Professor John Ellis, from the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) as key note speaker who will open proceedings. 

The theme running through LIYSF 2009, ‘Science Serving Mankind’ will illustrate the international community at the forum how science leads to the advancement of humanity.  Leading scientists, dignitaries and industry pioneers give inspirational lectures throughout the two weeks and participants have ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities to visit leading industrial sites, world renowned scientific institutions and research centres.  Many participants attend LIYSF as prize and award winners from competitions, contests and conferences internationally, from all fields of science.    

LIYSF is a two week residential event in London, with lectures and demonstrations from leading scientists, visits to industrial sites, research centres, scientific institutions and organisations, including world class laboratories and universities. LIYSF attracts over 300 of the world’s leading young scientists aged 17-21 years old from more than 50 participating countries. There is an active social calendar with events designed to enable those from around the world to learn about different cultures.
