About Us
Educational Cultural Exchanges (International) Ltd., (ECE), was founded over 20 years ago as a specialist organiser of educational, sports and music festivals becoming a fully-fledged operator of inbound educational and cultural programmes into the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
Today ECE develops and manages programmes for a wide range of clients from all over the world including:
- school and university student clients
- sports clubs
- choirs, orchestras and religious groups
- young scientists
- corporate and youth operator clients
primarily in Europe but increasingly across other continents where our global client base dictates.
Based in Chislehurst Kent the ECE team is passionate about its vision providing “travel with a purpose” solutions for our customers – a far more rewarding and interactive way to learn about a destination and to develop our visitors as individuals.
With this aim in mind, we tailor-make our programmes covering special interests or activities - be they educational, physical or cultural. We create programmes based on your detailed requirements or we suggest an itinerary to fulfil your objectives.
As a result most of our travel programmes have been developed specifically to meet our client’s specific briefs and are thus not visible on our web sites. We have included a few to provide a flavour for what we do.
Of course we provide the iconic tourist attractions that are on everyone’s “must do” list but where we are different from other travel providers is through our aim to provide programmes that offer life defining experiences providing content that is rich and unique with a level of creativity that is unsurpassed in terms of :
- the stature of the people our customers get to meet which has occasionally been known to include even Heads of State!
- the level of cultural immersion clients have with host countries and communities that they are introduced to – put simply the opportunity to work, play, study and hang out with people from different cultural backgrounds.
- the quality of the content that is provided.
Much of our early work was created in response to a world leader who saw through international travel the opportunity to break down nationalistic and cultural barriers to make the world a better and safer place.
The ECE team were recently awarded The Queens Award For Enterprise 2009 in recognition of its export earnings that have quadrupled over a six year period. Other industry awards have been received for creativity, innovation and the sustainability of our programmes.
Whilst fantastic to receive there is no better satisfaction in seeing a young apprehensive face at the start of a programme and then seeing that smiling, confident face a couple of weeks later and realising that the experiences that have been provided will be remembered positively for a lifetime.
Most of our programmes have been designed for special interest groups but we do offer a few programmes for individual travellers - ECE operates the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF), which in 2009 celebrates its 50th Anniversary bringing young science students to the UK from over 60 countries across the world –many of whom participate as a result of winning national science competitions.
